Notice of Change

When an ACH transaction is initiated, the receiving financial institution may return a Notification of Change (NOC) to indicate updated information about the destination account.

NOCs are typically issued for updates such as:

  • Account number changes
  • Routing number changes
  • Account type changes (e.g., checking to savings)

Upon receiving a NOC event, CCG will automatically update the relevant payment method with the new information. Additionally, a notification will be sent to the merchant via Payment method webhooks, ensuring the merchant is promptly informed of the change.

When is a NOC triggered?

A NOC is triggered when the receiving bank identifies that the account or routing information provided in the ACH transaction is incorrect or outdated, but the transaction can still be processed. The bank processes the payment and simultaneously sends a NOC to inform the originator (CCG) of the correct information for future transactions. This helps maintain accurate account data and reduces the risk of payment failures in subsequent transactions.
